how to put your drawings/arwork onto a computer?

i mean without having to take a picture and uploading it, that just looks crapy.
i joint this thing online called deviantART.com and you can upload and submite your art onto your profile. I need to know how people do that so that my drawings come out like this

You can scan it on your computer and then get an art program something like paint.net and you can go back over it with the program or leave as it is and then theres going and doing it all over on your computer without the scanning.
