Duane Bryers "Hilda" – the first size Pin Up Girl Illustrated addition
Pin Up Girl
Before talking about the curves, swervy, plus size bikini Hilda, the stage will be set with a brief history of pin up girl. I'll take the time now, with a brief history of some of the pins most talented and popular to the illustrators in American history.
Earl Christy, (1883-1961)
Let's start with the prolific Earl Christy, who illustrations doll-like porcelain appeared in everything from magazine covers and commercials Hollywood to the scores and postcards. His work is soon to return as 1906. His movie posters and painted covers for "Photoplay" and other Hollywood magazines are now collector valuables.
Earl Moran (1893-1984)
Earl Moran artistic genius appeared in everything from Sears and Roebuck catalogs for Life magazine and millions of Brown and Bigelow calendars. What is most remembered is through his pin ups. Moran incredibly rendered cake "visions" offers more variety than any other great illustrator situation. Of their legacies enduring are his paintings of the 1940 Young stunning model named Norma Jean Baker. She painted more pictures than any other artist.
Rolf Armstrong (1889-1960)
Rolf Armstrong was another famous artist Brown & Bigelow calendar. After arriving home from a trip to France in 1919, opened a studio in Greenwich Village where he painted the Ziegfeld girls crazy. Later, while in Hollywood, all the great stars of the time she posed for him. Popular actors like Mary Pickford, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich and Katherine Hepburn were painted by him. It was even Boris Karloff to pose for him on the set of the original "Frankenstein."
He refused to work from photographs and always seeking the perfect model. When asked why they prefer a live model through a photograph, he said, "I want the person who lives opposite me. When I look again and again and again while I work, I get a thousand fresh impressions, Live … all the glitter, exuberance and spontaneous joy that springs from a young and happy heart. "
Armstrong pastel pin ups of his ideal, with little clothes, "girl next door" have a quality, light and bright for them. His paintings of healthy women, young nubile are some of the most memorable of all the famous illustrators. It was truly a man of talent thin.
George Petty (1894-1975)
The pin finally exploded in popular culture Esquire Magazine with introduction of s "Petty Girl" in 1933. Slender, charming and well formed, Petty became an institution U.S., capturing the hearts and minds of more than twenty years. From 1933 to 1956, his images were seen by tens of millions of sites, where after all cards, magazines and billboards to play and game books, including aircraft "nose art in World War II. In 1950 she became a movie starring Robert Cummings and Elsa Lanchester.
Gil Elvgren (1914-1980)
Pin up gallery is not complete without displaying the impressive talent Elvgren Gil. Its charming, dreamy depictions of nubile female form can not be eclipsed in the genius of any other artist. He had talent sublime! A student The Art Institute of Minneapolis, liked to paint the girls who were new to the modeling business. He believed that the ideal pin up was a girl with
a face of fifteen years in a body of twenty years old, so it combines the two. During the forty-two-year period 1930-1972, produced over five hundred paintings beautiful young women, almost all painted on oil and canvas. Today, his fully developed, finished works of art are second in value of the paintings Alberto Vargas.
Alberto Vargas (1896-1982)
The most prolific illustrator and glamorous celebrities of all time is Alberto Vargas. The son of Max Vargas, a famous and talented photographer in her own right, Alberto learned to airbrush his father before he was a teenager. Most do not realize that in fact Born in Peru and the U.S. did not until 1916. He arrived at Ellis Island across Europe, where he had been since 1911. While there, he studied in Geneva and Zurich, and by the time he made his way here, he was a gifted talent in bloom. In the three years he had hung his own shingle and was fronts paint shop and the windows of New York, traders in the city.
One hot afternoon in May 1916, while painting a window of a trade center was approached by an employee of the Ziegfeld Follies and asked to show their work at the same Great Ziegfeld. Within forty eight hours, was commissioned to paint 12 portraits of main stars of the 1919 season of the Ziegfeld Follies. They went to the lobby of the New Amsterdam Theatre.
Since the first time in committee, Alberto Vargas was an artist in high demand.
He painted all the major stars of the Ziegfeld Follies and then the top stars of Hollywood like Betty Grable, Jane Russell, Ann Sheridan, Ava Gardner, Linda Darnell, Marlene Dietrich, Loretta Young, and even Marilyn Monroe posed for him.
In 1940 he replaced the great George Petty at Esquire magazine and 1945 was the most famous illustrator of the glam world.
The baby boomers all know him as the creator of Playboy Vargas Girl. Painted more than 150 of his works Vargas Girl Playboy teachers.
He was married over forty years to the love of his life, Anna Mae Clift. When she died in 1974, lost most of drive creativity and worked only a couple of times by The Cars "Candy O" album cover and two album covers for Bernadette Peters. Died in Los Angeles in December 1982.
Now, the reason for writing this article … to discuss the most wonderfully well-formed, round, proportions perfect plus size, pear-shaped beauty in the history of Pin Up Girl: Duane Bryers "Hilda"
One night, while wandering "Google Images for content curves, I found myself in the Big Pin Les Toil's Beautiful to Gallery. I clicked through and followed his fun and, curiously, called blogs looking for well-fed, female images that had started the night searching.
After I do admire the Les talents', I went back to the main page and click on a cheerful blue-green and yellow flag with the name "Hilda" written across it. I clicked on it, is not totally unprepared for what was about to see.
As soon as the page opened, I stopped and stared in amazement. He was one of those moments when we are seeing something that you are completely taken the world around you seems to disappear, and everything goes completely silent as the focus narrows, taking what is in front of you.
Discover Hilda was like discovering a lost treasure. I realized right away. I remembered as a perfect picture of what had idealized for years in the female form, round, soft, pear-shaped, plump and well proportioned to the end.
If a man's natural instinct is to respond to the rounder, softer, more generously proportioned women, it is understandable why there is so much like her. In her long legs, soft baby face plump, inviting arms, hips, round and wide, is a vision of femininity that are in front of you. Add to all that her breasts are spacious, well-developed soft abdomen, performance and glorious waist-hip ratio, and discover she is a perfect example of perfection to complete the shape. The perfect size also in the form pear
nubile beauty.
Unlike the stick thin female icons so popular today, Hilda does not have a central position. She embodies sublime the ideals of the former women's fashion "round and smooth." She is feminine to the nth degree.
Duane Bryers was the first illustrator to use more models subjects in their size and pin up art. Sometimes he did not use a model at all and painted from memory or fantasy. A feat, according to pin up artist Les Toil, "Most impressive!"
